چکیده
One of the most significant yield losses in tomato ( Solanum lycopersicum L.) is due to weeds. Yellow and purple nutsedge, large crabgrass, Palmer amaranth are troublesome weed species production throughout southeastern United States. This study aimed determine impact soil steaming, plastic mulching, cover crops on suppression, height, fruit yield. The used were hairy vetch Vicia villosa ), crimson clover Trifolium incarnatum cereal rye Secale cereale ). was conducted at Mississippi State University Truck Crops Experiment Station Crystal Springs, Mississippi, USA. experiment a completely randomized block design with three fall crop treatments, including fallow, each replicated times repeated two years. Each plot broadcasted mixture yellow nutsedge Cyperus esculentus L.), crabgrass Digitaria sanguinalis barnyardgrass Echinochloa crus-galli) , [ Amaranthus palmeri (S.) Watson] density 20 plants m -2 for species. Two days after sowing seeds, surface steamed according its assigned treatment until it reached 61°C either 0, 5, or min. After drip irrigation tubing laid row, covered by black, 0.0254-mm mulch. Data recorded both years, cover, plant lowest observed 5 min steaming mulched treatment, highest noted 0 absence mulching. dominant species, even under steam mulch treatments. use did not show difference compared fallow However, showed followed clover. Tomato up 13 cm taller than those unsteamed soils. Additionally, combination increased marketable cull Soil mulching height while decreasing population can, therefore, be effectively incorporated into an integrated management program tomato.

Winter Cover Crops and Vinegar for Early-Season Weed Control in Sustainable Cotton
Weeds may be suppressed by winter cover crops and the use of organic herbicides such as vinegar. Black oat (Avena strigosa) and hairy vetch (Vicia villosa) winter cover crops were planted for 2 years as part of a sustainable production system for cotton in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas, and were till-killed each spring prior to cotton planting. Palmer amaranth (Amaranthus palmeri), commo...

agricultural sustainability is closely related with the efficient use of natural resources, which are primarily transformed by the action of microorganisms. soil microorganisms are usually used as early indicators of soil quality since they rapidly respond to changes in soil management. a field experiment was carried out aiming to evaluate the effect of siratro (macroptylium atropurpureum), bah...

Much of cover crop research to date focuses on key indicators of impact without considering the implications over multiple years, in the absence of a systems-based approach. To evaluate the effect of three years of autumn cover crops on subsequent processing tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) production in 2010 and 2011, a field split-split-plot factorial design trial with effects of cover crop t...

Field experiments at Oakes, ND, USA in 2010 and Carrington, ND, USA in 2011 were conducted to evaluate the potential for cover crops grown in the Northern Great Plains, USA in order to reduce weed emergence and density in irrigated potatoes. Treatments included five cover crop treatments and three cover crop termination treatments. Termination of cover crops was done with glyphosate, disk-till,...
